Robin Hood Dramatics Drama & Musical Theatre Course Theme: Peter Pan At Robin Hood Dramatics, we believe theatre is more than performance – it’s an adventure. Our Drama and Musical Theatre Course offers children and young people the chance to step into the magical world of Peter Pan, where imagination takes flight, friendships are formed, and creative skills are built for life. Over the course of the programme, students will explore singing, dance, drama, and stagecraft, developing both artistic ability and personal confidence. Whether a child is brand new to performing or already has some experience, this course is designed to nurture talent, encourage expression, and provide a joyful space to grow. The Theme: Peter Pan This year’s theme is Peter Pan, the timeless story of the boy who wouldn’t grow up, his adventures with Wendy, Captain Hook, Tinker Bell, and the Lost Boys in the magical world of Neverland. Why Peter Pan? It’s a story filled with energy, fun, and movement, perfect for introducing children to musical theatre. The characters are larger than life, allowing young performers to step into exciting roles. The themes of courage, friendship, imagination, and adventure mirror the journey our students take throughout the course. The mix of pirates, fairies, mermaids, and children gives everyone a chance to shine, whether they are more confident in singing, dancing, or acting. Working within this theme means every week feels like a journey into Neverland. Students don’t just learn technical skills – they become part of the story, which keeps lessons engaging, dynamic, and memorable. Singing – Finding Your Voice Musical theatre is built on the power of song, and singing is a core part of our course. Students will: Learn vocal techniques – breathing, projection, articulation, and pitch control. Explore ensemble singing, where voices blend together to create rich harmonies. Gain confidence in solo performance, stepping forward to take on a moment in the spotlight. Build skills in character singing, learning how to express emotions through song. Using songs inspired by Peter Pan and other musical theatre pieces, students discover how to use their voice safely and effectively. Younger students learn the basics of warming up and caring for their voices, while older ones explore how to interpret lyrics and convey a story through music.
